David Wilson is committed to working with people to help them achieve financial success. With 26 years of experience in the financial services industry, as well as 20 years of experience as a military officer prior to joining Choice Financial Services, he is licensed to work with clients in multiple states. David is licensed in securities as a broker and investment advisor, as well as insurance licensed in life, health and long-term care.
David works with individuals and small business owners in developing plans to help them accumulate wealth, protect their assets, and manage the retirement distribution of their wealth in a productive and tax-efficient manner. “My primary focus is personal financial management. I like to help families and individuals plan and take steps to ensure their financial security,” he says.
“I have two minimum requirements: the prospect wants to work with me, and I want to work with the prospect. My staff says that all of my clients love me. I often say, ‘if you don’t want to be my friend, you probably don’t want to be my client,’” David jokes. (His clients usually do become his friends.)
David’s experience as an instructor during his military career and years of experience as a financial professional help him understand how to impart the complexities of financial plans and products in an understandable way in order for them to make wise decisions about the financial aspects of their lives. He strongly believes that everyone should seek out a financial advisor. “I learned a long time ago in my own life to pay someone for their expertise. Most people spend less time planning and managing their financial future than they do on this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. I do this all day, every day,” he says.
David graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He served for over 20 years as a pilot flying the McDonnell Douglass F-4 Phantom and the F-15 Eagle, amassing over 3,500 hours of flight time.
When he left the military and entered the financial services industry, he obtained an MBA from the University of Central Oklahoma. He started out selling life and health insurance. “It was while I was working with one client in particular to provide retirement income using annuities that my perspective opened up and I started to see how I could really help clients,” David says. He is currently an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) with International Assets Advisory (IAA), an SEC-registered advisory firm. He is also insurance-licensed in seven states.
David is extremely involved in the community. He says, “Staying involved in community activities gives back to the community and helps me stay young!” He is a member and has served as chapter president as well as district president for the National Exchange Club. He is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He is a former member and Assistant Squadron Commander for the local Civil Air Patrol squadron. He is a former Senior Aerospace Instructor for the Choctaw High School Air Force JROTC. He’s a member of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association.
When he’s not working or serving the community, he likes to travel and learn new languages. He studies music—piano, violin and banjo among other instruments—and hosts home concerts for local professional and student musicians. He still loves flying and is part owner of an RV-10. He is a certified ground and flight instructor.
